Diamond Fasteners Website Review

Upon reviewing http://www.diamondfasteners.com/, I have found many positive aspects and very few negative aspects of the site. The home page has a wonderful layout. Even without any previous knowledge of the company, I could immediately tell what products and services the company offers. It is a very professional design from a very professional-looking company. The organization is excellent, with the navigation bar at the top of the page, and the block of products listed on the bottom and links to information about the product. http://www.diamondfasteners.com/inserts.htm The color scheme of the site it wonderful. There is just enough color to please the eye, but not to a fault. I also like how the certifications are displayed at the top of the page. It gives a customer a sense of security when contemplating a purchase from the company. The site provides the necessary simplicity in navigation, and no content is difficult to find.

One of the few problems I noticed when navigating the site was that the “Products and Services” and “Manufacturing” links in the navigation bar seem to take you to the same place. http://www.diamondfasteners.com/manufacturers.htm The drop down list is nice for the products, but I believe a short description or list of the products and services that are provided would be sufficient.

Overall, the design of the site is great for the most part and it appears as though the content of the site will provide enough traffic to promote their goods and services effectively. A well-constructed website is one of the first steps in becoming a quality, well-respected company, and this site stays true to the mold.

Tweaks to Make Firefox Faster

I found these tips online, and I noticed a difference right away. If you have any problems, it's simple enough just to undo the changes that are listed here. It only takes a couple minutes, so why not give it a try...

Linkage

1. Type “about:config” (no quotes) in the adress bar in the browser.
2. Find “browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer”
3. Set it’s value to “0“;(Zero)
Increase the Speed at Which Firefox loads pages

1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit Enter.
(Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.)

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 10.

This means it will make 10 requests at once.

3. Lastly, right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0“;.(Zero)

This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages faster now.
Optionally (for even faster web browsing) here are some more options for your about:config (you might have to create some of these entries by Right Click –> New– > Interger or String

network.dns.disableIPv6: set “false”
“content.notify.backoffcount”: set “5“; (Five)
“plugin.expose_full_path”: set “true”.
“ui.submenuDelay”: set “0; (zero)
Reduce RAM usage to 10MB when Firefox is minimized:

This little hack will drop Firefox’s RAM usage down to 10 Mb when minimized:

1. Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter.
2. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
3. In the box that pops up enter “config.trim_on_minimize”. Press Enter.
4. Now select True and then press Enter.
5. Restart Firefox.

I hope this was of use!

In this compilation of links you should be able to find just about any movie you can imagine.

ThePiratecity.org - well organized and easy to navigate, probably the first place I'd check for movies

My Digital Shows - amazing content, but I'm not a huge fan because of the difficulty in navigating it

Movies for Free - good site, but you have to install something called Zango to be able to view their content

The Movie Pit - plenty of content here, but difficult to navigate

Videoszsearch - excellent site and easy to navigate

Live Cinema Online - excellent site and easy to navigate with tons of content

Free Movies Puppy - another site that requires Zango

Online Movie Forum - very nice site with user generated content

Movie Released - not a huge fan of the site, since most of the movies are a little older, but it's not too shabby

Watch Movies Links - very nice site with simple setup

Film Hill - decent site with movies arranged by year and genre

AfterHourMovies - pretty cool site with easy navigation and good content

Sidereel - seems more geared towards TV shows, but still a good source for movies

Also, some of the links in the post about watching sports online should be useful to you! ENJOY!

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to list them in the comments!

How to get a human on the phone for pretty much every business...

Excellent bookmark.

Automated Prank Calls

Prank Call Your Friends

GetMOOH

This is a pretty neat site. You can sign up for any time/date to place the call. There are also quite a few different recordings to choose from. The process of getting a password is pretty annoying, but I haven't gotten any advertising texts from them since sign-up.

Have fun!

Man Free of HIV After Stem Cell Transplant

From CNN

"A 42-year-old HIV patient with leukemia appears to have no detectable HIV in his blood and no symptoms after a stem cell transplant from a donor carrying a gene mutation that confers natural resistance to the virus that causes AIDS, according to a report published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine."

I was really excited to hear about this, although I know this is just a small step. I think the possibilities of stem cell treatments are limitless.

8 Monkeys Joke

The 8 Monkeys

(This is reportedly based on an actual experiment conducted in the U.K.)

Put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling.

Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder.

One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious. But undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder.

All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly. He has no idea why.

However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder.

A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crap out of him.

This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he's not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he's attacking the new monkey.

One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why.

And that is how most companies' policies get established.

Go check out Repo! The Genetic Opera!

Repo! The Genetic Opera

This is one movie that I've been absolutely hooked on since I randomly bought it.

In the year 2056--the not so distant future--an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants--for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family’s mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Seems as though most 'professional' movie critics have given this movie poor reviews, but there is no shortage of positive reviews from us normal people.

Yahoo! users have it at an A- overall, while critics have an average score of a D+...nice disparity.

Anthony Stewart Head and Sarah Brightman both give excellent performances in this rock opera, as well as Terrance Zdunich as the Graverobber.

The first time I saw it, I didn't quite know what to think, but now I can't get the music out of my head. I encourage all of you to go check it out!
